Duke, the main dog in this short report (also known as Dukey), was rescued six years earlier and has the sweet and calm behavior of a pet that is well cared for and adored by his foster guardians. So it should not be surprising that when you wake them up in the middle of the night trembling with apparent fear, there must be something dramatically wrong at home. Mom and dad hunt frantically to see what is causing the anxiety and find out in the next room that their 9-week-old daughter has stopped breathing.
